An online tutor profile works when it shows a clear subject, your rates per session length, your availability and real student ratings, and when booking takes a student only a few clicks. On Educastic, students find your public profile, send a booking request, and pay by card once you accept.

A good profile does the selling while you teach. Parents and students compare tutors quickly: they read the headline, check the price, glance at the stars and look for a button to book. If any of those is missing, they move on.

This guide walks through setting up a tutor profile on the Educastic marketplace, handling booking requests and collecting ratings, with the exact labels you will see on screen.

What is a tutor profile on a tutoring marketplace?

A tutor profile is the public page where students see who you are, what you teach, what you charge and what earlier students said about you. On Educastic it shows your profile title, an About section, your expertise areas, your rates, your average rating with the number of reviews, and a "What students say" section with written reviews.

Students reach tutor profiles from the tutor search page, which opens under "Learning-on-Demand" and asks "What Would You Like to Learn?". They can search by course, tutor or keyword, filter by Expertise, Rating, Certification and Rates, and sort the results by Reviews or Courses.

How do you set up your tutor profile in Educastic?

Set up your Educastic tutor profile from My Profile in your dashboard menu. The page has tabs; work through them in this order:

  1. Personal Info. Write a Profile Title (for example "GCSE maths tutor, exam technique") and an About Me paragraph. Here you can also add Featured Videos (up to four) and a Featured Logo.
  2. Pricing, Expertise, and Schedule. Set your Tutor Rate for sessions of 30, 60 and 120 minutes, list your Expertise Areas, mark your weekly Availability and any Not Available days. Add your education, experience and memberships underneath.
  3. Bank Info. Click Connect Stripe so you can receive payouts.
  4. Settings. In the Profile section, switch on Display in Marketplace. In the Scheduling section, choose whether "Student requires approval to schedule a Session/Class" and whether to "Allow Student to see your Calendar".
  5. Click Save on each tab.

The Hire me button appears on your public profile once you have set your rates and connected Stripe. Without both, students can read your profile but cannot book you.

If you do not see the Marketplace link in your dashboard menu, the marketplace is not switched on for your account yet. Contact Educastic to have it enabled.

What should you write in your tutor profile?

Write your tutor profile for the parent who has 30 seconds. Lead with the exam, level or problem you solve, not with a list of qualifications.

  • Profile Title: subject, level and outcome. "IB chemistry, Paper 2 practice" beats "Science teacher".
  • About Me: three short paragraphs: who you help, how a typical session runs, and what the student will have after four weeks.
  • Expertise Areas: use the words students type. Each area becomes a filter on the tutor search page, so "algebra" and "trigonometry" work better than one vague "maths".
  • Featured video: a one-minute clip of you explaining one idea on the whiteboard shows your teaching better than any sentence.

How do students book a session with you?

Students book a session by clicking Hire me on your profile, which opens the Booking Appointment form. The student fills in:

Field What the student chooses
Date and Time When the first session starts
Session Minutes One of the session lengths you set a rate for
Class Type Individual or Group
Educast Period Single class, Weekly or Monthly
No. of Session From 1 to 30 sessions

Educastic checks your existing sessions first. If the slot overlaps a class already on your schedule, the student is asked to pick another time, so you are never double booked. The price is your rate for that session length multiplied by the number of sessions.

How do you accept or reschedule a booking request?

When "Student requires approval to schedule a Session/Class" is on, every booking waits for you. You get a notification, and the Appointment Request page shows the date, start time, duration, class type, period and number of sessions.

From there you can:

  1. Accept the request. Educastic creates the sessions on your schedule and notifies the student, who then pays by card.
  2. Ask for a reschedule. The student is notified and picks a new date.
  3. Chat with the student first if something is unclear, such as the exam board or the topic.

The student has one day after you accept to pay. Unpaid bookings are released, which keeps your calendar free of sessions nobody paid for.

If you turn approval off, students go straight to payment after submitting the form. That suits tutors with a stable timetable; approval suits tutors who want to check fit before the first lesson.

How do students rate you after a session?

Students rate you when they leave the session, if you turn on "Show ratings option to student on Exit" in the whiteboard settings. They see "Please rate your teacher", choose 1 to 5 stars and can add a comment, or skip.

Ratings appear on your profile as an average with the number of reviews, and the comments appear under "What students say". Students can filter the tutor search by rating, so a handful of honest reviews early on makes a real difference.

Tip: ask for a rating at the end of a session that went well, in one sentence: "If today helped, a quick rating on your way out helps other students find me."

What mistakes stop tutor profiles getting bookings?

The most common mistakes are a vague headline, missing rates and an empty calendar.

  1. No rates or no Stripe connection. The Hire me button stays hidden until both are set.
  2. "Display in Marketplace" switched off. Your profile will not show in tutor search.
  3. Generic expertise. Students filter by expertise area, so specific topics get found.
  4. Hidden calendar. Showing your availability answers "when can we start?" before it is asked.
  5. Slow replies to requests. Accept or ask for a reschedule the same day.
