The English Language: More Than Just a School Subject
For many years, we have viewed English as simply another school subject, where we learned vocabulary, the verb to be, the alphabet, numbers, greetings and farewells, how to tell time, the months of the year, and everything else that makes up the language.
However, the English language is much more than that. It not only allows us to secure a well-paying job or get a promotion in the workplace, but it is also a communication tool that allows us to connect with the world, where opportunities arise to generate new business and expand our business connections.
Developing conversational skills in English will allow you to access information you never imagined having access to, since most information across professional fields is available in English.
Not only that, but you will also be able to connect with people you never imagined you would meet.
Now that everything is moving at such a fast pace, developing skills is essential. The ability to communicate is important, and if you can also do so in another language, such as English, that is even better.
It is remarkable to see how some people nowadays believe they do not need English, until their company decides to terminate their employment. They then find themselves in a situation where the job interview for the position they wish to apply for is conducted in English.
And that is when they rush to take an English course, hoping that, in a short period of time, a miracle will happen before the interview.
We know that God is the only one who can perform miracles.
To you who are reading this article, I would like to offer this recommendation:
Do not wait until an opportunity comes along to start preparing. Instead, start preparing today so that when the opportunity presents itself, you are ready.
I could go on sharing many more thoughts in this article, but that will have to wait until next time.
