About ELSA Barrios

My name is Elsa Alvarez de Barrios.

I have been working as a Homeroom teacher for more than 30 years in lower elementary grades. Most of my teaching experience has been as an Elementary teacher at International Schools. My passion is teaching and I always give the best of me to engage my students in learning experiences in a safe, respectful, and caring environment. It is very important for me to challenge students and involve them in real life situations to enhance their learning experiences. I also pay great attention to respecting the individual learning styles and interests of each student delivering my classes to reach them all with meaningful and engaging activities.

In my last years working as a teacher, I had the challenge to finish teaching my students virtually as the pandemic started and it was needed to teach our students via Zoom. The experience was challenging but very successful. But as mentioned before, my passion is teaching, I worked during the years 2020-2021 with some families helping their children to reinforce concepts taught online and supporting them with the Zoom sessions and online assignments.

I have great expertise in helping students to reinforce academic work and assignments in Reading, Writing, and Math. I have had a great experience teaching online and using the tools needed to connect the students and get the best out of each session.

The school year just started and I want to offer my teaching knowledge and abilities to support students reinforcing concepts taught in class with guidance and support from a certified tutor.

He trabajado por mas de 30 años como maestra consejera en grados de primaria. La mayoría de mis años trabajando como educadora han sido en escuelas internacionales. Mi pasión es enseñar y siempre doy lo mejor de mi para conectar a mis estudiantes en experiencias de aprendizajes en un seguro, respetuoso y amable ambiente. Para mí es muy importante motivar y retar a mis estudiantes y envolverlos en situaciones reales para enriquecer sus experiencias académicas. También presto mucha atención en respetar los diferentes estilos de aprendizaje e intereses de cada estudiante impartiendo mis clases en la forma de alcanzarlos a todos con significativas y relevantes actividades.

En mis últimos años como educadora tuve el reto de acabar el año escolar enseñando virtualmente cuando empezó la pandemia y fue necesario enseñar a los estudiantes via zoom. La experiencia fue un reto pero el resultado fue exitoso. Pero como he mencionado antes, mi pasión es enseñar, en los años 2020-2021 trabaje con varias familias enseñando via online reforzando los conceptos dados en clase usando sesiones en zoom.

Tengo una vasta experiencia ayudando estudiantes a reforzar el trabajo académico y las asignaciones en Lectura, Escritura y Matemáticas. He tenido una gran experiencia enseñando via online por computadora utilizando las herramientas necesarias para conectar y motivar a los estudiantes aprovechando con éxito cada sesión.

El año escolar acaba de empezar y yo quisiera ofrecer mis conocimientos académicos y habilidades para apoyar a los estudiantes a reforzar los conceptos estudiados en clase con guía y apoyo de una tutora certificada.
